NOAH Criminal Justice Task Force

NOAH's Criminal Justice Task Force met with many people, departments, and agencies - learning to understand the different pieces of the criminal justice system in Nashville: police, courts, DA, public defender, jail, and more.  We learned about school suspensions and how these may track children into the "school-to-prison" pipeline.  We also learned about ways to improve this system.

On February 22nd, the Task Force made a presentation at NOAH's Public Meeting with Mayoral Candidates, entitled "A Tale of Two Nashvilles."  All 8 of the candidates for Mayor committed to work with NOAH on our issues platform, which included criminal justice.

The Task Force is still learning, still asking questions, so that we will be ready when the new Mayor is elected.  The Task Force is continuing to learn about mental health needs, drivers' license issues that clog the courts, and school discipline issues.  Come and work with us!
