NOAH is interfaith, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-racial. NOAH builds leaders and organizes its membership to engage in political and economic decisions affecting their lives. NOAH then acts in the public arena. NOAH is a coalition of congregations, community organizations and labor groups building civic power through relationships, organizing people and money, thereby creating the capacity to effect change that leans toward justice.

Primary Responsibility: Serves as Associate Organizer for NOAH in building power through expanding membership, increasing funding streams, building leaders, and determining local issues for action. This includes organizing and overseeing power analysis, research, public actions and the evaluation of the organization’s effectiveness. Reports to Lead Community Organizer.
- Assist in strategic growth—membership and funding
- Structure and design issue campaigns in collaboration with the lead organizer
- Carry out organizing efforts for effectiveness and efficiency and makes recommendations for improvement
- Manage and support members and leaders
- Implement the strategic plan, development plan, marketing plan, and social media strategy in collaboration with lead organizer and NOAH leadership
- Assist leadership in running effective meetings
- Assist in maintaining an accurate database that aligns with current technology
- Organize and support faith leaders in their organizational roles
- Observe Gamaliel’s General Standards for Organizers
- Within 6 months of hire attend Gamaliel Foundation 7-day national training for community organizing
- Demonstrated success in organizing, strategizing, and following through on organizing campaigns
- Capacity to organize fundraising campaigns, write successful grants, and effectively maintain an organization’s membership dues base
- Have an inspirational presence, reliable and consistent leadership, and a passion for the mission of NOAH
- Excellence in individual, group, and public communication skills
- Program planning and evaluation skills
- Ability to handle detail on a variety of projects simultaneously
- Ability to develop leadership through relationships and delegation
- Excellent time-management, energy-management, and motivational skills
- Above average technology knowledge
- Maintain a respectful balance between being cooperative and creating positive tension
- Performs well in stressful situations and under pressure
- Open to change as a constant state of being
- Ability to work as a part of a diverse team that includes various experiences of race, gender, faith, ability, and age.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, internet based software applications, website maintenance, social media competency, and portable digital platforms.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant field of study OR equivalent experience
- Understanding and analysis of the systemic nature of oppression
- Experience and knowledge working in African-American faith communities
- Two years of community organizing experience preferred
- Affiliation with successful issue campaigns
- Comfort working in underserved communities of color
- Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle

Compensation Package: $35,000-$45,000 DOE
